Don’t you just love achieving your goals?

There is nothing more amazing than setting your sights on something and then getting it. Especially, when it comes to business. It keeps you motivated to achieving more and builds your confidence so you know you can achieve more.

As amazing as it can be to achieve your goals a lot of people struggle with it. If, you struggle with achieving your goals know you are not alone. It is something I have to work at all the time.

The path to getting there can be bumpy sometimes but I have some secrets to share with you on how to make sure you get there.

Business goals can be some of the toughest goals for people to accomplish. It can be easy to separate ourselves from them by putting our personal lives first. To account for that you have to plan it out to make sure you are giving it the attention it needs.

It is also easy to come up with excuses as to why we didn’t get those goals. Excuses flow easily but this is just a mindset issue. You have to be on to your brain to make sure it doesn’t go there.

Are you a new business owner? That can be one of the toughest times to set business goals and crush them. Yet it is so very important.

You get the idea to start a business so you go for it. It is new and exciting and you are going to crush it. Except things get hard and those goals you set seem further away than before you started.

This happens to so many new business owners and can be where many of them stop. Hold on to why you started and keep going because I am now going to let you in on the secrets you need to crush those goals.

Before you Crush them you gotta Have Em

This is not a chicken or the egg scenario. One must come before the other.

In order to get the goal you gotta have the goal.

This may seem like common sense but a lot of business owners will just be doing things that may not be moving them closer to what their goal is. Just doing tasks is not enough. You have to have set goals and being doing the things that will help you get there.

At any given time in your business someone should be able to ask you what your goal is and you should have an answer. Your goal should be very specific. I want to make more money is not good enough.

If, you do not have a clear goal there will be no way to know if you are achieving it.

The steps to setting a goal are:

1. Come up with a broad goal. 2. Add specifics to it. 3. Add more specifics to it. 4. Ask yourself if it is : Achievable and what you want. 5. Assess your goal time to time.

There are going to be times when your goal changes. That is okay, do not stick to trying to achieve goals that you don’t want. Just be sure you also aren’t changing goals because it got hard and your using that as an excuse to not go after it.

You Have to Have a Plan

Plan and then plan some more.

Once you have a goal create a list of what it will take for you to accomplish it. Anything that you may need to do. Get as detailed as possible and leave nothing out. Once you have your list you are going to need to start acting on it which is where your planning is going to come in.

The plans you need to create have to support your goal. Whatever you are working on at any given point needs to be traced back to the goal. The way to make sure that is happening is to create a detailed plan.

You need to have multiple plans. One that starts broad and covers the course of a year. Then break it down to the next step which would be quarters, then monthly, weekly, daily, and hourly.

Your plans should get down to the point where every hour you know what you are working on and it should all build back up to that overall plan.

This will keep you on track to get the goal you have set.

Clean Up Your Mindset

When you speak your goal what do you think and feel?

You may have a goal that you want to achieve but are having doubts about whether it is possible. Those thoughts will be your biggest obstacle to achieving your goals.

Your mindset will always be the key factor for the results that you have not only in business but in your life. Dedicate time to make it work for you instead of against you.

Keep it in Sight

Write your goals down and keep them where you can see them. Set them as the background to your computer or phone screen, and keep it on the walls.

Whenever I am needing a bit of motivation I will look at my goal. It sets things into perspective and is a reminder of why every moment I am either moving towards it or keeping myself from achieving it.

People get creative with where they put their goals so that it is constantly in sight. I know someone who had a goal they were dedicated to but knew it would be a long road to achieve it. To make sure it was always on her mind she got a bracelet that was stamped with words that referenced her goal. This was a constant reminder to her which made it nearly impossible to ignore.

Final Thoughts

Goals are going to be imperative to the life of your business. Make sure you have a goal you are working towards all the time. When you don’t have a goal you leave yourself vulnerable to your business not succeeding.

Once you have your goal that you are working towards you need to plan out how you are going to achieve it. I mean down to the nitty gritty details.

Keep a watch on your mind as you work towards it to make sure it is helping and not hurting your progress.

Write down your goal and keep it where you can see it. This will keep the out of sight out of mind situation from setting in.
